- Students started their day with community circle.

- In Language, we have now reached the end of our "Jolly Phonics" sounds! This week students will focus on the sound of "ar" & "er" while reinforcing all vowel sounds. Today boys & girls practiced spelling "er" words by themselves on white board strips and then completed a worksheet for reinforcement.

- During Journal time, we listened to a read-aloud about being a VET & students illustrated a picture of their pet & wrote different ways to take care of their pet.

- This morning students had Gym class with Ms. Lovan!

- After first lunch/recess, students completed a "Measurement" worksheet to practice long/tall vs. short. Students also lined up from tallest to shortest to compare.

- Students had Drama & Music with Mr. M & French class with Mme H. before second lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, for our Unit of Inquiry on Community Helpers, students reviewed POSTAL WORKER/MAIL CARRIER; today everyone practiced how to write a letter. Students chose someone in their family to write a letter to - we hope to walk to the post office on Friday and mail these letters!

- Students started their day with community circle.

- During Journal time, everyone completed their OWA Post-Assessment for Term 3. Students illustrated, labelled, and wrote about their favourite foods. Everyone put great effort towards this task and it will definitely reflect on their Report Cards!

- This morning students had Gym class with Ms. Lovan!

- After first lunch/recess, students listened to a story ready by Adam & then for Math, we reviewed surveying, sorting, tallying & graphing. Everyone was also introduced to Measurement. We counted the number of letters in everyone's first name and then sorted it from longest name to shortest name.

- Students had French class with Mme H. before second lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, for our Unit of Inquiry on Community Helpers, students discussed the role of a MAIL CARRIER & completed a sequencing activity before packing up for home.

- Students started their day with community circle. Today we had a new friend come visit the class for the day; everyone made her feel very welcome!!

- This morning students had Gym class with Ms. Lovan!

- After first lunch/recess, students completed a "Community Helpers" Data Management worksheet with surveying ,tallying and graphing!

- Students had Drama & Music with Mr. M & French class with Mme H. before second lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, for our Unit of Inquiry on Community Helpers, students pretended to be chefs & made up what dishes they would make if they were a chef in a restaurant!

1. SPRING FUNDRAISER!!

Friday, April 24th -> BOWLING TRIP!!

(For those who have fundraised $35 or more!)

- Students started their day with community circle.

- In Language, students practiced their Spelling words by making their own Word Search using the spelling words!

- Students had Gym class with Ms. Lovan!

- After first lunch/recess, students completed a graphing assignment where they had to count/colour/graph different geometric shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon).

- In Unit of Inquiry on Community Helpers, students completed a sorting activity where they cut & pasted pictures to match the appropriate Community Helper.

- Students had Drama & Music with Mr. M & French class with Mme H. before second lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, we packed up for home, played a game and then headed to the Gym to find out today's TOP STUDENT & TOP CLASS for the Spring Fundraiser!

Day 136 - Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 - EARTH DAY & FREE MOVIE DAY!!

Friday, April 24th -> BOWLING TRIP!!

- Students started their day with community circle.

- In Language, students worked on an Earth Day booklet! We learned about what people can do to help the Earth be a clean place to live!

- Students had Gym class with Ms. Lovan!

- After first lunch/recess, students enjoyed juice & popcorn while watching BIG HERO 6 on the big screen projector as part of our reward for earning TOP CLASS for the Spring Fundraiser from yesterday!! :)

- Students had French class with Mme H. before second lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, we finished up the rest of the movie & then went to the Gym to find out who was TOP STUDENT & TOP CLASS for today!!

ACTION IS IMPORTANT!!

Action is a significant aspect of the IB learning process. Please become a follower of the SK class blog to post any action your child has completed at home. When his/her name appears on the blog, your child will receive house points. This is to help further their knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Students are to use what they have learned and apply it to the “real world.” For example, if we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Action varies and ranges from something small to something very large; as long as students are understanding the concepts, action is important no matter the size. Thank you for your cooperation :)
