Day 110 - Friday, February 27th, 2015

Happy Friday !

- After we returned to class, we continued the day with our calendar routine. Brandon was our special helper today!

- Everyone had a fun time during Gym today with Ms. Lovan!

- During Language, students wrote their February Spelling Test & students who got 10/10 received a sticker on their chart!

- We did another story re-tell using the book "Goldilocks" & students wrote and illustrated their re-tell on their own! Great work everyone!

- This week we continued our Math unit on MONEY!

- Students had French class with Mme Stella before 2nd lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, we focused on the feeling "Mad/Angry" and talked about "Kelso's Choices"; when someone is feeling angry, he/she can use Kelso's Choices to deal with the conflict. Before heading home, students made a frog craft (Kelso the frog).

Day 109 - Thursday, February 26th, 2015 - School-wide Poem/Speech Competition!!

Happy Thursday !

- After we returned to class, we continued the day with our calendar routine. Joey was our special helper today!

- Everyone showed off their dance moves during Gym today with Ms. Lovan!

- Today was the SJA Oral Presentations Competition! Congratulations to everyone, espectially the finalists!! Way to go!!

- This week we continued our Math unit on MONEY! Today we reviewed all the coins & made a mini-booklet to help everyone study how to identify the coins & remember the value of each coin.

- Students had Drama class with Mr. Monaghan & French class with Mme Stella before 2nd lunch/recess.

- In the afternoon, students listened to more speeches (Gr. 4-10)!

Day 108 - Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 - CASUAL DAY!

Happy Wednesday !

- After we returned to class, we continued the day with our calendar routine. Nihal was our special helper today!

- Everyone had a fun time during Gym today with Ms. Lovan!

- Amna read to the class during STORYTIME!

- During Language, students worked reviewed "Vv" from yesterday and worked on "ng" & "ing" words! They also worked on a

- SJA SCHOOL Oral Presentations are tomorrow -Thursday, Feb. 26th at 9am!

- Today we continued our NEW Math unit on MONEY!

- Students had French class with Mme Stella before 2nd lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, we completed a full STORY RETELL using the book "Sharing Time Troubles". Students listened to the story twice and then we worked together to re-tell the story using "First, Next, Then, & Last" prompts! Students also illustrated the main parts of the story. The copy of this task will be sent home next week in students' Snuggle-Up & Read folder as a sample "Story Re-tell".

Day 107 - Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Happy Tuesday !

- After we returned to class, we continued the day with our calendar routine. Eshan was our special helper today!

- Everyone had a fun time during Gym today with Ms. Lovan!

- Miqueas read to the class during STORYTIME!

- During Language, students focused on the letter "Vv" and engaged in collaborative group work with their tablemates; every table had to brainstorm as many words with "Vv" as they can in 15 minutes. Fantastic job by all tables - very impressive!!

- Our 4 poem finalists

- SJA SCHOOL Oral Presentations are this Thursday, Feb. 26th at 9am!

- Students practiced February's spelling words by making sentences outloud using different spelling words; everyone also completed Rainbow Writing for the words.

- Students worked on STORY RETELLING - we listened to a short book entitled Dan Can Add & and then everyone had to sequence the story using pictures, followed by writing sentences about the book - "The main character in the book is..."/ "Dan can add _______ & _______/ " Dan cannot add _______."

- Today we continued our NEW Math unit on MONEY!

- Students had Drama class with Mr. Monaghan & French class with Mme Stella before 2nd lunch/recess.

- At the end of the day, we reviewed the feelings of "HAPPY" and "SAD"; students listened to a book about different feelings & then completed the first 2 pages of their "Feelings Booklet" - they had to write about what makes them happy and what makes them sad.

ACTION IS IMPORTANT!!

Action is a significant aspect of the IB learning process. Please become a follower of the SK class blog to post any action your child has completed at home. When his/her name appears on the blog, your child will receive house points. This is to help further their knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Students are to use what they have learned and apply it to the “real world.” For example, if we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Action varies and ranges from something small to something very large; as long as students are understanding the concepts, action is important no matter the size. Thank you for your cooperation :)
