DAY 41 - Happy HALLOWEEN Friday! 

Students started this exciting day with a HOUSE GAME!

Once students returned to class, they wrote their October Spelling Test!

In Language, students have been working on the letters "Gg & Dd". Today we had Show & Share:

Giraffe, Oats, Orange, Optimus Prime, Ghost

In the afternoon, we made a Witchy Witch craft & students also decorated a brown bag that was used to collect all the treats from their classmates!

Before second recess/lunch, students had Drama/Music with Mr. Monaghan & then French class with Madame Stella!

At the end of this funtastic day, students exchanged Halloween treats & then we finished the day off with a Halloween video!

Day 40 - Thursday, October 30th, 2014

DAY 40 - Happy Thursday!

Students started this morning with the morning routine, which consisted of updating the calendar, days of the week, months of the year, weather, the 4 seasons and counting our way to 100 days of school. Following that, students went to gym class with Ms. Lovan! Before first lunch/recess, students had journal time - "I am scared of ________ because __________."

In Language, students kept practicing the sound of the letter "Oo". They also completed a worksheet where they practiced identifying the vowel sound, followed by pages in their Letters & Sounds book.

In the afternoon, we read a storybook - "Go Away, Big Green Monster!"

Students then made their own MONSTER!

Before second recess/lunch, students had French class with Madame Stella!

At the end of the day, students listened to the book "The Cat in the Hat", and then everyone completed some more Halloween-themed Math worksheets.

Students started this morning with the morning routine, which consisted of updating the calendar, days of the week, months of the year, weather, the 4 seasons and counting our way to 100 days of school. Following that, students went to gym class with Ms. Lovan! Before first lunch/recess, students had journal time - Today we wrote down a few safety tips for Trick or Treating during Halloween. 

In Language, students reviewed "Gg" and then focused on the vowel "Oo". Students constructed the capital and lowercase of the letter and then made "on" and "off".

In the afternoon, we read a storybook about Halloween and then completed a Halloween activity.

Before second recess/lunch, students had Drama/Music with Mr. Monaghan & then French class with Madame Stella!

At the end of the day, students made a Halloween craft - Ghost Silhouettes!

Students started this morning with the morning routine, which consisted of updating the calendar, days of the week, months of the year, weather, the 4 seasons and counting our way to 100 days of school. Following that, students went to gym class with Ms. Lovan! Before first lunch/recess, students had journal time -

After journals, students had some time to sort and create a Halloween Candy graph.

In Language, students continued working on the letter "Gg". Everyone quickly and quietly complete a practice worksheet.

In the afternoon, we read a Halloween storybook and then students had a blast making a Monster craft! Everyone's monsters are displayed on the outside of the classroom doors!

Before second recess/lunch, students had French class with Madame Stella!

Continuing with our Unit of Inquiry on "From Farm to Table" (Sharing the Planet), students completed a Pumpkin Sequencing activity.

Students started this morning with the morning routine, which consisted of updating the calendar, days of the week, months of the year, weather, the 4 seasons and counting our way to 100 days of school. Following that, students went to gym class with Ms. Lovan! Before first lunch/recess, students had journal time - "I am going to dress as ________ for Halloween because..."

In Language, students focused on the letter "Gg". Everyone brainstormed words that begin with this letter and then constructed it with play-doh.

In the afternoon, we read a storybook about the fast-approaching Halloween! In Math, since we have been practicing skip counting by 2's, students completed a Halloween-themed worksheet that helped practice this concept!

Before second recess/lunch, students had Drama/Music with Mr. Monaghan & then French class with Madame Stella!

Continuing with our Unit of Inquiry on "From Farm to Table" (Sharing the Planet), students had a lesson on Plant Parts & Plant Needs. We listened to books about each plant part (seed, roots, stem, leaves, fruit, flower) & then students completed a cut & paste worksheet.

Students started this morning with the morning routine, which consisted of updating the calendar, days of the week, months of the year, weather, the 4 seasons and counting our way to 100 days of school. Following that, students went to gym class with Ms. Lovan! Before first lunch/recess, students had journal time - today we focused on October's Learner Profile: KNOWLEDGEABLE. Students were reminded that September's Learner Profile was INQUIRER, and now we are on to the next one. We read the book "Officer Buckle & Gloria - Safety Tips" and then everyone completed a worksheet where they illustrated and wrote about how Officer Buckle is KNOWLEGEABLE. Students who finished early also had the opportunity to make up their own Safety Rule star!

In Language, students focused on the letter "Dd". They completed a practice worksheet.

In the afternoon, we had storytime and then students completed a "Farm Animals" patterning activity!

Before second recess/lunch, students had Drama/Music with Mr. Monaghan & then French class with Madame Stella!

At the end of the day, boys & girls made a Diwali craft!

Following that, students went to gym class with Ms. Lovan! Before first lunch/recess, students had journal time - today boys & girls wrote another Spelling Practice test and then completed a sequencing worksheet!

Anthony shared a book with the class today!

In Language, students practiced the letters "Mm" & "Dd". They completed a worksheet.

In the afternoon, we read the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom". Students completed a fun craft where they had to count the letters, vowels and consonants in their names. 

Before second recess/lunch, students French class with Madame Stella!

At the end of the day, students continued working on vowels by making a graph of "How many vowels are in your name?"
