Happy MONDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special Helper: Jayden
During Journal time today, students wrote about what they did over the weekend and what they enjoyed the most about the visit from the chicken farmer from Friday!
- This week's JOLLY PHONICS will be on the sound of "th". Today students brainstormed words and completed a practice worksheet.
- We are into the 2nd week of the VERY EXCITING 5th Unit of Inquiry on COMMUNITY HELPERS! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we organize ourselves". This week students will learn about mail carriers!
- Today in Math, students wrote their MATH TEST on TIME. The results will be sent home tomorrow for parents to view and sign. 
- At the end of the day, students worked on sounds in their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p. 18.
- Students attended GYM/ART/FRENCH class at their assigned times.

During Journal time today, students wrote about what they think the best part of being back to school is along with something new they learned this past week. 
- This week's JOLLY PHONICS will be on the sound of "sh". Today students had Show & Share:

* SHadow the dog
* SHapes
* SHip
- We are into the 1st week of the VERY EXCITING 5th Unit of Inquiry on COMMUNITY HELPERS! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we organize ourselves". Today students had a special guest visit: a CHICKEN FARMER!

Happy THURSDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special Helper: Aarnav.
During Journal time today, students wrote how a sunny day makes them feel and why.
- Students also completed a worksheet where they had to write a list of what activities they enjoy when it is raining
- This week's JOLLY PHONICS will be on the sound of "sh". Today we continued practicing this sound with another worksheet. Tomorrow is SHOW & SHARE for some. 

- The SK classes are into the 1st week of the VERY EXCITING 5th Unit of Inquiry on 
COMMUNITY HELPERS! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we organize ourselves". 

* TOMORROW WE ARE HAVING OUR FIRST COMMUNITY HELPER GUEST OF THE UNIT! STAY TUNED :) *

- March's learner profile has been PRINCIPLED; today students were given another lesson about this important term - we read a book entitled "Mr. Peabody's Apples" (which is actually written by Madonna!), and then students wrote on an apple template what the meaning of PRINCIPLED is. 
- To help prepare for next week's "International Day", students coloured flags of our class's country: KOREA. Everyone coloured a North Korean flag and a South Korean flag. 
- Today in Math, students reviewed TIME to the hour and the half-hour. There will be a:
MATH TEST (MONDAY, MARCH 31st) on TIME
Review sheets for the test will be sent home tomorrow!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special HelperMacKenzie.
During Journal time today, students wrote about their senses relating to Spring
- This week's JOLLY PHONICS will be on the sound of "sh". Today we continued practicing this sound with a worksheet. 
- We are into the 1st week of the VERY EXCITING 5th Unit of Inquiry on COMMUNITY HELPERS! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we organize ourselves". 
- To help prepare for next week's "International Day", students watched a video about "International Mindedness" and multiculturalism in the world. 
- Today in Math, students reviewed TIME to the hour and the half-hour. Some of us are a bit rusty on these concepts, but we will be practicing this week to prepare for the: 
MATH TEST (MONDAY, MARCH 31st) on TIME
Review sheets for the test will be sent home at the end of the week.
- At the end of the day, students worked on sounds in their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p.16-18.

Happy TUESDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special Helper: Braydon.
During Journal time today, students wrote about the signs of Spring
- This week's JOLLY PHONICS will be on the sound of "sh". Today we continued practicing this sound by comparing it with words that have the "ch" sound.
- We are into the 1st week of the VERY EXCITING 5th Unit of Inquiry on COMMUNITY HELPERS! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we organize ourselves". Today students had an overall discussion on different community helpers and then every table worked together to cut and sort/match the object/tools that go with the appropriate job. 
- Today in Math, students reviewed TIME to the hour and the half-hour. Some of us are a bit rusty on these concepts, but we will be practicing this week to prepare for the: 
MATH TEST (MONDAY, MARCH 31st) on TIME
Review sheets for the test will be sent home at the end of the week.

Monday, March 24th, 2014 - TERM 3 STARTS TODAY!

Happy MONDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special HelperHayden.
During Journal time today, students enthusiastically wrote and shared with the class what they did over the March break.
- This week's JOLLY PHONICS will be on the sound of "sh". Today we read a book with many "sh" words, brainstormed words with "sh" and completed a worksheet practicing the sound.
- We are into the 1st week of the VERY EXCITING 5th Unit of Inquiry on COMMUNITY HELPERS! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we organize ourselves". Today students discussed what a community and neighbour is, and then we brainstormed a list of different helpers/jobs that are in the community. Following that, everyone completed a writing and drawing task on 
"When I grow up, I want to be...because..."
- Today in Math, students reviewed TIME to the hour and the half-hour. Some of us are a bit rusty on these concepts, but we will be practicing this week to prepare for the: 
MATH TEST (MONDAY, MARCH 31st) on TIME
Review sheets for the test will be sent home at the end of the week.
