 Student Council will be selling Candy Grams for Valentine's Day starting: 
Monday, February 3rd.  
The cost is $0.25 per gram.
  Students will get to send a note and a Hershey kiss.   
Candy Grams will be delivered to the students on February 13th in their classes!

Day 91... Happy FRIDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special HelperAnshuman
- Students had their JOLLY PHONICS today: this week's focus will be on the sound "ng" & "ing". Today we had Show & Share!
- Students learned about and listened to a story on Groundhog Day, since it will be this coming Sunday, Feb. 2nd
- We are into the 1st week of our 4th Unit of Inquiry about "Feelings"! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we express ourselves". This week students focused on happy & sad.
- In Math, students continued their MONEY unit. Students received review sheets to practice over the weekend. MATH TEST ON MONDAY!
- Our class & Ms. Nelson's Grade 3's spent the afternoon together learning about Chinese New Year & then making a fun dragon craft together! Check the Grade 3 blog for some pictures!
- At the end of the day, students went over their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone practiced the blends on p. 7 & 8.
- Students attended GYM/FRENCH class at their assigned times.

Day 90... Happy THURSDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special Helper: Sophia
During Journal time today, students answered the response "Today I will change my behaviour by...".
- Students had their JOLLY PHONICS today: this week's focus will be on the sound "ng" & "ing". Today everyone practiced the sound of "ing". Everyone wrote a sentence on their whiteboard strip using a word ending with "ing".
- Students worked on another sequencing activity today, one that was marked with a rubric. 
- We are into the 1st week of our 4th Unit of Inquiry about "Feelings"! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we express ourselves". Today we focused on the feeling sad. Everyone filled out a word web, listing reasons why someone would be sad. 
- In Math, students continued their MONEY unit. Today we reviewed all the coins. Students then did a coins review sheet and made a coins booklet to help them study for the test next week. 
- At the end of the day, students got an introduction to their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p. 7 & 8.
- Students attended GYM/ART/FRENCH class at their assigned times.

RAINBOW LOOM SALE NEXT WEEK!

On Tuesday February 4th, Miss DaCosta’s grade two’s will be having a second sale to sell Rainbow Loom rings and bracelets for World Vision

Their goal is to raise money to provide school supplies and books for students who need them. Rings are 50¢ and bracelets range from $1.00-$2.00 (depending on the type of bracelet). 

Thank you in advance for your support in helping us raise money for charity!! =)

Day 89... Happy WEDNESDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special HelperBosco
During Journal time today, as part of the beginning of our next Unit of Inquiry on Feelings, students answered the response "I can make _________ happy by __________".
- Students had their JOLLY PHONICS today: this week's focus will be on the sound "ng" & "ing". Today everyone practiced the sound of "ing" and then wrote their own sentences using king/sing/wing.
- Students worked on another sequencing activity today which they all did a great job on!
- We are into the 1st week of our 4th Unit of Inquiry about "Feelings"! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we express ourselves". Today we continued with the feeling happy. Everyone filled out a word web, labelling and illustrating what makes them feel happy and/or "happy" things.
- In Math, students continued their MONEY unit. Today we reviewed pennynickeldimequarter &  loonie. Students added toonie to their list of coins and practiced counting by 2's as well. 
- At the end of the day, students got an introduction to their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p. 7 & 8.
- Students attended GYM/FRENCH class at their assigned times.

Day 88... Happy TUESDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special Helper: Jordan
During Journal time today, as part of the beginning of our new Unit of Inquiry on Feelings and upcoming Poem Oral Presentations, students answered the response "If I was chose to go on stage for my poem, I would feel..."
- Students had their JOLLY PHONICS today: this week's focus will be on the sound "ng" & "ing". Today everyone practiced the sound of "ing". Everyone brainstormed words ending with "ing" and completed a worksheet. 
- We are into the 1st week of our 4th Unit of Inquiry about "Feelings"! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we express ourselves". Today students made a detailed illustration for the sentence "I like eating ice cream at the park." The purpose of this assignment was to gauge how well students illustrate and put meaning in pictures from words. 
- Students listened to a "Little Critter" story today and wrote a re-tell for it. We will also practice this concept more this week. 
- In Math, students continued their MONEY unit. Today we reviewed pennynickeldime & quarter. Students added loonie to their list of coins and practiced counting them as well. 
- At the end of the day, students got an introduction to their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p. 7 & 8.
- Students attended GYM/ART/FRENCH class at their assigned times.

RAINBOW LOOM SALE

On Wednesday January 29th, Miss DaCosta’s Grade two’s will be selling Rainbow Loom rings and bracelets for World Vision. Their goal is to raise money to provide school supplies and books for students in other countries who need them. 

Rings are 50¢ and bracelets range from $1.00-$2.00 (depending on the type of bracelet).

Day 87... Happy MONDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special HelperNoah
During Journal time today, as part of the beginning of our next Unit of Inquiry on Feelings, students answered the response "Today I feel _________ because __________."
- Students had their JOLLY PHONICS today: this week's focus will be on the sound "ng" & "ing". Today everyone practiced the sound of "ng".
- Students worked on a sequencing activity today, using key words like "First, Next, & Last"
- We are into the 1st week of our 4th Unit of Inquiry about "Feelings"! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How we express ourselves". Students listened to a book on different feelings people might feel, and then everyone drew a face of themselves expressing either happy/sad/angry/surprised. Everyone else in the class then guessed what expressions the other kids had!
- In Math, students continued their MONEY unit. Today we reviewed the pennynickeldime & quarter
- At the end of the day, students got an introduction to their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p. 7 & 8.
- Students attended GYM/FRENCH class at their assigned times.

Day 86... Happy THURSDAY!

- The SK students started their morning with calendar time led by our 
Special Helper: Pranav
During Journal time today, as part of the wrap up of our current unit of inquiry, students wrote about "My LEAST favourite seasons is....because..." Everyone gave some insightful answers!
- Students had their JOLLY PHONICS today: this week's focus will be on the sound "Zz" & "Ww". Today everyone practiced "Ww" with a worksheet. 
- We are into the final week of our 3rd Unit of Inquiry about "The 4 Seasons"! This unit is categorized under the IB theme "How the World Works". Students started by reviewing the Central Idea of this unit: Seasonal changes affect humans as well as singing the Seasons song. Today students completed their Summative Assessment for this unit. 
- As a fun activity, students used their names to create a "Name Monster"!
- In Math, students continued their MONEY unit. Today we reviewed the pennynickeldime & quarter. 
- At the end of the day, students got an introduction to their BLENDS book. This book will be sent home & KEPT home for practice while we also work on it at school. This week everyone will practice the blends on p. 5 & 6.
- Students attended GYM/FRENCH class at their assigned times.
