Thursday, December 20th, 2012 - CHRISTMAS CONCERT at 7pm!!


Bonjour,

The SKs started off Thursday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc).  
Student also attended French in the morning.
For the remainder of the morning, students rehearsed for the Christmas concert & participated in Christmas-themed activities.
In the afternoon, students had storytime, practiced their concert songs again, wrote their Spelling Test for December and had fun making a craft.
At the end of the day, students had time to play in the Gym!

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 - CASUAL DAY

Bonjour,

The SKs started off casual Wednesday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc).  
Student also attended French in the morning.
For the remainder of the morning, students rehearsed for the Christmas concert & completed Christmas-themed worksheets.
In the afternoon, students had storytime, practiced their concert songs again,   made Christmas cards and attended Gym class with Mr. Browning.
At the end of the day, students finished up their Christmas cards and wrote a letter to Santa telling him what gifts they would love to have this year!

Snowman Craft!
Bonjour,

The SKs started off Tuesday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc).  
Student also attended French in the morning.
For the remainder of the morning, students worked on pages in their Letters & Sounds book & rehearsed for the Christmas concert.
In the afternoon, students had storytime & then made a super-fun snowman craft using paint & cotton balls!
At the end of the day, students once again practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert. The SKs will be practicing all week to prepare for the concert this THURSDAYDecember 20th at 7pm

Bonjour,

The SKs started off Monday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc).  
For the remainder of the morning, students practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert during our rehearsal. The SKs will be practicing all week to prepare for the concert this THURSDAYDecember 20th at 7pm! (Students should be at school (dropped off in their classrooms) by 6:45pm!)
In the afternoon, students wrote their Math Test & practiced counting to 100 via a worksheet. 
At the end of the day, students had free time to colour Christmas pages & silent read.

THE CHRISTMAS CONCERT ON THURSDAY, DEC. 20th @ 7pm

Bonjour,

The SKs started off Friday with a house game, bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc). 
Student also attended French in the morning. 
For the remainder of the morning, students practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert during our rehearsal this afternoon. The JK-Grade 4 classes will be practicing all week to prepare for the concert on December 20th at 7pm!
After first lunch/recess, for our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we focused on the season Winter this week. Today students made their "Winter tree" craft by using white tissue as snow and gluing them on the branches of their trees or on the ground near the trees. 
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Mr. Browning.
At the end of the day, students had Show & Share. They shared p"ie", t"ie", barb"ie" and fr"ie"nds (dog stuffed animal & blanket). 
Everyone also had a chance to paint their "Santa Handprint" ornaments which they started last week. Students are excited to bring them home next week :)

The SKs started off Thursday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc). 
Student also attended French in the morning. 
For our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we are focusing on the season Winter this week. Students listened to a read aloud about this wonderful time of the year and then finished yesterday's "Our Senses during Winter" booklet where they wrote about what they see/hear/smell/touch/taste during this season. After the writing was complete, they cut out their snowflake-shaped booklet.
After first lunch/recess, students had Math & Phonics review. They worked on addition questions & Canadian coins, followed by an "ie" worksheet.
Words of the Week & Jolly Jingles are based on "ie"
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Mr. Browning.
At the end of the day, students practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert during our rehearsal this afternoon. The JK-Grade 4 classes will be practicing all week to prepare for the concert on December 20th at 7pm!

Students listened to a read aloud about this wonderful time of the year and then completed a "Signs of Winter" worksheet where they illustrated what Winter looks like to them. Students who completed this task also had a chance to make a Winter-themed mini-book named "A Snowy Day"
After first lunch/recess, students practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert during our rehearsal this afternoon. The JK-Grade 4 classes will be practicing all week to prepare for the concert on December 20th at 7pm!
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Mr. Browning.
At the end of the day, students had Phonics. Today they practiced writing with neat penmanship; students printed words with "ie" in them.

Today students learned about December's learner profile: Knowledgeable. We read a book about a police officer who is extremely knowledgeable about Safety Tips, and students then had to complete a writing/illustrating task where they had to write about how they display characteristics of being knowledgeable. 
After first lunch/recess, students practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert during our rehearsal this afternoon. The JK-Grade 4 classes will be practicing all week to prepare for the concert on December 20th at 7pm!

Bonjour,

The SKs started off Friday with a house game, bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc). 
Student also attended French class in the morning. 
For our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we focused on the season Fall this week. Today students created a tree craft with red, orange and yellow paper as leaves to represent what trees look like in the Fall-time
After first lunch/recess, students had storytime (book chosen by the Special Helper). Show & Share was today; we had many b"oa"ts as well as a c"oa"t and a t"oa"d! Afterwards, students had Reading Buddies with Ms. Elliott's Grade 7/8's
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Ms. Lopez.
At the end of the day, students had Art. Today our class and Ms. Genco's class got together to begin making super-cool Christmas ornaments that are made from flour, water and salt, which will then be baked in the oven in the shape of each student's hand-print. Next week the boys & girls will paint their ornaments to ensure its completion for home-time before the holidays. Students had a great time with this "messy" project!

For our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we are focusing on the season Fall this week. Students continued in their Fall & Our Senses booklet by writing in what  they see/hear/touch/smell/taste during the Fall-time.
After first lunch/recess, students had storytime (book chosen by the Special Helper). We then had Math class; today students practiced addition questions and reviewed all the coins by making a Coins mini-booklet and completing a matching review sheet.
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Ms. Lopez.
At the end of the day, students had Phonics. This week we will be working on "oa"Words of the Week & Jolly Jingles will be based on "oa". Students practiced with another worksheet and also completed pages in their Letters & Sounds workbook.

The SKs started off Wednesday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc). 
Student also attended French Music class in the morning. 
For our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we are focusing on the season Fall this week. Students brainstormed what they see/hear/smell/taste/touch during this season (tying in to our first unit of inquiry quite well). Afterwards, students began writing in a booklet what we brainstormed about (using our senses during Fall-time). 
Students also practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert that will occur in December :)
After first lunch/recess, students had storytime (book chosen by the Special Helper). We then had Math class; today students were introduced to the $2 coin - toonie. Students coloured & counted by 2's in a 100's chart & completed a worksheet where they had to count toonies.  
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Ms. Lopez.
At the end of the day, students had Phonics. This week we will be working on "oa"Words of the Week & Jolly Jingles will be based on "oa". Students practiced with another worksheet and also completed pages in their Letters & Sounds workbook.

The SKs started off Tuesday with bell work and morning circle time (special helper/calendar/weather, etc). 
Student also attended French Drama class in the morning. 
For our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we are focusing on the season Fall this week. Students listened to a read aloud about leaves changing colour and the overall visual aspect of the season. Students then completed a "Signs of Fall" worksheet where they illustrated what Fall looks like to them.
Students also practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert that will occur in December :)
After first lunch/recess, students had storytime (book chosen by the Special Helper). We then had Math class; today students were introduced to the $1 coin - loonie. They also practiced filling in missing numbers from 0-20. 
At the end of the day, students had Phonics. This week we will be working on "oa". Words of the Week & Jolly Jingles will be based on "oa". Students practiced with a worksheet and also completed pages in their Letters & Sounds workbook.

For our Unit of Inquiry on "Seasons", we are focusing on the season Fall this week. Students listened to a read aloud about squirrels and how they prepare themselves for Winter during the Fall. Students then brainstormed activities, clothes and anything that popped in their heads when we mention Fall-time. 
Students also practiced singing their songs for the Christmas concert that will occur in December :)
After first lunch/recess, students had storytime (book chosen by the Special Helper). We then had Math class; today students practiced counting backwards from 15, addition questions and reviewing the quarter from last week.
Students also had a blast attending Gym class with Ms. Lopez.
